We all know how important it is to keep our skin protected when tanning at the beach. The right sun protection product is a must, because otherwise the skin can suffer seriously. However, how to best take care of your skin after the beach?
The sea, sand and good mood – this is something you look forward to every year. In order not to spoil your stay at sea, however, you should be careful not only about sun protection, but also about skin care after you have left the beach. Your newly sun-exposed skin needs extra attention and a multi-step routine to follow every day:
Remove the salt water and sand
After you return from the beach, don’t delay in washing the salt water and the rest of the sand off your skin. This will reduce the chances of your skin drying out and causing any irritation.
Wash your skin
Use a gentle cleanser to wash your skin and remove any leftover sunscreen you may have used while at the beach. Look for a cleanser that’s right for your skin type.
Hydrate your skin
Spending time in the sun at the beach can dehydrate your skin, so it’s important to replenish moisture. Apply suitable moisturizing cosmetic products to your face and body. Look for ones that are specifically formulated for after sun exposure.
Take care of sunburn (if any)
In case you have not been strict with the sunscreen products, it is possible to get a sunburn. Sometimes body oiling is also not perfect and some places where burning occurs are missed. Now is the time to take care of any area where you have a burn. Apply a suitable product with a soothing cooling and healing effect. Aloe vera gel or products with ingredients such as chamomile or cucumber can be helpful. With their help, you can reduce redness, inflammation and discomfort.
Drink lots of water
Hydration starts from the inside, so be sure to drink plenty of water after you’ve been to the beach. This will help your skin hydrate better.
*In case you will be going out in the sun again, don’t forget to reapply sunscreen to your skin. If possible, also get enough sleep, because during sleep the skin regenerates and recovers faster.
